Tamil Nadu by-elections 2023 took place on 28th February for two assembly seats- Sankarankovil in Tirunelveli district and Vikravandi in Viluppuram district. The elections were necessitated due to the demise of the sitting MLAs of both the constituencies.

🔎 Key Facts:

The counting of votes began at 8 am on March 1, 2023, and the results were declared on the same day.

The ruling party, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), has won both the seats, maintaining its strong hold over the state.

In Sankarankovil constituency, DMK's candidate, G. Chandrasekaran, won by a margin of over 55,000 votes against his closest rival, AIADMK's R. Rajasekaran.

In Vikravandi constituency, DMK's K. Pitchandi won by a margin of over 29,000 votes against AIADMK's K. Annamalai.
